Patrick Witt, Executive Director of the White House Crypto Council, May Leave as Detail Ends
On October 15, crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that Patrick Witt, the Executive Director of the White House Crypto Council, has reached the end of his detail or is about to do so, and it remains unclear whether it will be renewed. Witt is an employee of the Department of Defense and has not responded to inquiries about his position recently, declining to comment. Harry Jung, the Deputy Director of the White House Crypto Council, left at the end of July, and after David Sacks' term as the crypto and AI czar ended, Witt became the only remaining staff member on the council. Discussions in the crypto policy circle are ongoing regarding whether the White House will continue to prioritize the crypto industry after the "Crypto Market Structure Act" failed to advance in the Senate. The personnel changes have not yet been officially confirmed by the White House.
