Willy Woo Suggests Buying Bitcoin During Low Interest Periods
Searches for 'bitcoin' on Google Trends are close to 14 points, its lowest level in six years. Willy Woo, a bitcoin market analyst, suggests that periods of low interest can be buying opportunities, while euphoria may indicate moments to sell. The Google Trends graph shows global interest in 'bitcoin' and 'BTCUSD' from 2011 to October 2026, normalized on a scale of 0 to 100. Historically, searches for 'bitcoin' peaked during the bull cycles of 2017 and 2021, while in the bear market of 2018 and 2019, the indicator fell to around 10 points, which became an accumulation zone. However, searches for 'BTCUSD' reached a record in 2025, before BTC hit its all-time high of $126,000 in October of that year. By mid-October 2026, BTC was trading around $82,000, 35% below its peak. Woo defended the utility of Google Trends, explaining that it measures the relative interest of each term but does not indicate how many people are buying bitcoin. The drop in searches could reflect an accumulation phase or a loss of interest in bitcoin, and distinguishing between the two scenarios requires observing the return of capital to the market and the recovery of the price.
