Founders Fund Discovers Polymarket CEO Used Company Funds for Personal Expenses

By: www.bloomberg.com|10/20/2026 10:41:55

Investors in the prediction market platform Polymarket have pushed CEO Shayne Coplan to make changes in response to pressure from competitor Kalshi. In 2025, Founders Fund discovered that Coplan had used company funds to pay for personal expenses such as private jets and apartment rentals while the company had no revenue. Before investing, Founders Fund required him to improve financial controls and repay the related amounts. Currently, Polymarket is facing competitive pressure from Kalshi, which has gained an advantage in trading volume and valuation. Investors hope Coplan will steer the company towards more mature operations and governance.
