Brazilian Securities Commission Launches Tokenized Securities Experiment Project to Test Blockchain Trading
The Brazilian Securities Commission has issued Resolution No. 249, launching a tokenized securities experiment project to simulate stock trading and the issuance, operation, and management of securities on a blockchain network. The project will be conducted in a controlled environment, using specially created simulated assets for stocks and funds, without involving real financial risks. It will compare the advantages and disadvantages of public and private blockchains for securities operations and assess risks related to network security, smart contracts, interoperability, and network resilience. Participating blockchain networks must incorporate market rules into smart contracts, ensuring that securities operations maintain privacy while being subject to regulatory audits. The CVM will also utilize AI tools to assist in market monitoring. Brazil's largest stock exchange, B3, is building a tokenized platform, set to launch in 2027, which will use a self-developed stablecoin and will not offer round-the-clock trading initially, integrating liquidity pools for digital assets and traditional markets.
