Rising US Treasury Yields and the Growing Importance of Stablecoins
Editor Park Sang-hyuk explained that the rise in US Treasury yields is increasing the importance of stablecoins. On the 30th, during an appearance on Sampro TV, he stated, "As US Treasury yields continue to rise, the prices of risk assets like BTC are being suppressed, but the relatively strong performance of Bitcoin prices in the third quarter is due to the market's focus on stablecoins." He mentioned that in August, when Treasury yields rose and the dollar index fell, both Bitcoin and gold increased together, suggesting that stablecoins could serve as a vessel of liquidity that can mitigate the impact of rising Treasury yields. In September, he added, the Federal Reserve announced regulatory proposals for the US Federal Stablecoin Regulation Act (GENIUS Act), which has heightened market expectations. He also emphasized that while a sharp rise in Treasury yields could lead to a significant drop in Bitcoin, a gradual fluctuation in yields and the highlighted role of stablecoins could have a positive impact on the virtual asset market.
