Hacker Transfers 55 Million Euros Worth of Ethereum to Tornado Cash
The attacker has sent 25,700 Ethereum, worth approximately 55 million euros, to Tornado Cash. These transactions are a follow-up to the theft of 263 million euros on April 1 at Drift, a trading platform on Solana. The deposits took about two hours and followed nearly two months of inactivity. According to Arkham, the attacker still holds 81,454 Ethereum, worth around 173 million euros. Tornado Cash is a crypto mixer that combines deposits from various users, making it harder to trace the origin of the coins. The transactions do not prove that the attacker has withdrawn or spent the money, but they complicate tracking and potentially freezing it. After the attack, Drift reported a loss of 263 million euros for users and has opened a claims process for DFX tokens, which entitle victims to a recovery fund. Money recovered through freezes or police investigations goes directly to this fund.
