Ghana Stambic Bank Partners with Round Coin Technology to Explore Trade Settlement
Ghana Stambic Bank has partnered with Round Coin Technology to explore a bank-led cross-border trade settlement solution supported by stablecoin technology. Initially, the focus will be on payments from Ghanaian enterprises to Asian suppliers for business-to-business trade transactions, followed by regulatory communication, technical validation, and pilot preparation. Both parties will assess how to supplement existing banking services with digital asset settlement infrastructure to provide a more efficient and transparent trade payment experience. Ghana Stambic Bank will be responsible for customer access and account opening, KYC review, transaction approval, local currency settlement, and local compliance supervision; Round Coin Technology will provide payment technology, digital asset infrastructure, and access to the Asian settlement network, as well as coordinate overseas settlements. Stablecoin technology will support the cross-border settlement process, allowing corporate clients to use relevant banking services through Ghana Stambic Bank. The two parties also plan to establish a project team to advance technical testing and controlled pilot design.
