Apate.ai Deploys AI Agents to Combat Fraud, Extracts 250,000 Intelligence Reports
Australian AI anti-fraud startup Apate.ai, founded in 2024, has deployed 350,000 AI agents that disguise themselves as ordinary victims. These agents answer scam calls, respond to phishing texts, click on malicious links, and infiltrate scam group chats around the clock. Their core mission is to buy time and extract information such as bank card numbers, cryptocurrency wallets, and fake websites from scammers, which is then provided to banks and telecom companies for blocking. The company has completed over 2.5 million conversations, occupying approximately 17 years of scammers' working time, and has extracted more than 250,000 actionable intelligence reports. Clients include Commonwealth Bank of Australia and TPG Telecom, with some institutions reporting a significant decrease in scam losses. In August 2026, Apate.ai completed a $8.15 million seed round of financing, bringing its total funding to nearly $10 million, and is advancing its global expansion plans, including establishing an office in London and strengthening its presence in the United States.
